Syncing between devices
I have tried to buy the (rather expensive) add-on to enable me to switch between devices. I have tried to buy it, but when asked for payment, it asks me for my apple ID except it's not the ID username that I use. Then, when typing in my password, it keeps telling me that my password is wrong too. Help.....!!???

Is this the Apple ID for the purchase?
I know Apple requires people to use the same Apple ID for the in-app purchases as they used for installing the app, if that helps.

Do you mean your email address is your Apple ID? That's okay, but I'm just trying to get as much detail as I can to help.
Can you walk me though each step that leads to your problem please? If your password for your Apple ID is incorrect I'm afraid I can't do anything about that; you'll have to use the Apple "forgotten password" link.
If you're talking about the Online Sync service, this isn't connected to your Apple ID. We provide this service ourselves, and you'll have chosen a username when you registered and been sent a password in an email from "[email blocked]".

Thank you for your email. Don't worry, I think it's Apple I'm having a problem with. Every time I change my Apple ID, the next time I try to use it I am told password not recognised, so enter old password & then told can't use it as used within the last 12 months. When things work it's brilliant. When it doesn't I can't find the right place to get help. Hey HO.
Many thanks anyway. But cannot purchase anything till I can sort it out!!
Regards,
Katie

Understood! I had the same thing a while ago. I couldn't make any purchases until I'd changed my Apple ID password, which I suppose is so Apple can send out an email to verify you have access to that email address.
I hope you get it sorted out, (but not just so you can buy Easy Books!)

Did you already register for a Sync account? If not, go to the sync settings in the app, and choose the "sign up" option. Register with a username and your email address and you should receive an email back with an attachment. Tap the attachment and open it in Easy Books. This will enter your password for you, so you don't need to bother typing it.
Then you can just turn on syncing for your business on one of the devices, and on the other go for the download option. For full details, see http://www.easybooksapp.com/sync. Read this and scroll to the bottom for more links to help (getting started etc.).

It seems as though you have an iPhone and iPad already connected to the service, so I assume you found the email with the login details.
Can I close this issue?

Then why can I not get the details from my iPhone onto my iPad?

Could you try this?
On the iPhone, I think it has a business called Katie Fox on it. Can I assume this is the one you would like in sync with the iPad? If so, then run Easy Books on the iPad and add a new business. To do this, tap on the business name on the iPad, then on the + button at the top right to add a new business. You're going to add a new business by downloading "Katie Fox" from the sync service. You should see it listed with all the other templates that you would normally use when creating a business (Company, Sole Trader etc.).
See if that helps and let me know how you get on.

Hi Mathew,
I'm sorry, I'm really getting VERY frustrated. All fine on my iPhone. As soon as I go into app, all info there, can add in transactions etc. I then go to the iPad, which asks me for a username & password (which I added after buying syncing) BUT when I go into iPad & "log in" it is under katiepops007. But, cannot open any accounts, no + signs to add businesses. I just get account details (ie password, email, which devices etc) but no actual accounts/ transactions. When I find devices, under iPad it shows katiepops007 but no "Katie Fox".
I am getting rather fed up!!
Help.
Regards,
Katie Fox

Don't worry Katie, it's my fault not yours. I'm not explaining it very well and I'm sorry.
Tomorrow I will put together some screenshots for you or maybe a video clip if it's easier and I should have you sorted out.
And if the worst comes to the worst, don't worry because I'll refund your money if it comes to that.

Here are a few videos I hope will help. I did these in a hurry for you, and I don't have any sound so I hope it's okay to read the text here and view the videos alongside.
First is registering for an account, which I think you've done...
http://youtu.be/fBKgaFwgGT0
Then you received an email just like the one in the attached PDF. Did you then use the attachment to set the login detail in both devices; iPhone and iPad? It's the easiest way.
Next, if you have the devices logged in (which you can always check in the app's Settings > Online Sync), this video shows how to upload your business. I think you've done this as well on the iPhone.
http://youtu.be/OH5ICgYTNUo
Now you just want to have the same business on the iPad. So make sure the business does not already exist on the iPad first. Delete it if it does. This video shows how to start syncing the business on the iPad, assuming you've deleted all the businesses on there.
It shows me manually logging in to the sync service, but if you can view the mail attachment on the iPad, and tap it to open it in Easy Books, it's easier. Either way, you'll see the same screen showing the iPad logging in, then you should see your online businesses listed below, which you can tap on. Turn on the sync switch as shown in the video and go for the download option.
http://youtu.be/8YWiuM9i5OY
From this point, whenever you make changes to the business, these are sent to the service as soon as possible. If no network connection is available the changes are queued in the device for uploading when you're next using the app and there is a network connection. Changes are merged together and you'll see a popup message when the device detects new data is available to sync.
I hope that helps,
Mathew

Hi Mathew,
Have started looking at your videos. I cannot find an email with link re setting up account. I haven't seen the window which offers me a download for biz on iPhone. I did change password & got email link to change that. Is there anyway I can get the email to set up an account & start from the beginning again??

Dear Mathew,
Sorry to bother you. I was just wanting to ask you a technical question. I want to email & print off my annual account up to 5th April this year. When selecting profit & loss, it keeps showing figures from 7th April to 31st March (even though I have entered figures up to 5th April this year. Any suggestions?
Regards,
Katie Fox

Hi
I have been using easy books virtually since it was launched & love it!! I am having a little problem though, as when doing a profit and loss account (i.e. April 2015 - April 2016). I keep getting a message in red saying 'consolidate'. Not sure why it keeps showing & how do I get rid of it?
Regards,
Katie

Hi Katie,
Thanks for your kind comments. I assume you have consolidated your accounts a few times now then? If not, have a look at this video: https://easybooksapp.com/videos/consolidating-your-financial-year.
Consolidating your accounts zeros your expense and income accounts for the start of the new financial year. If you don't, the balances on these accounts just increases year on year.
The warning appears as a reminder when you're looking at a period later than the app has consolidated.

Hi Mathew,
Thanks for your swift reply. Can I ask something though. I have never consolidated my accounts before, as I have never had the instruction come up before. I am nearly at the end of my current year end and a bit worried about consolidating. If I consolidate for past years will it erase any current entries? I am also finding that when I want to add new entries, I cannot add any that a back-dated, so I have had to enter them all as today's date.
I would be most grateful if you could shed any light on these issues.
Many thanks indeed.

Hi Katie,
Consolidating does not remove anything, in fact it adds transactions. A transaction is added to every expense and income account with an amount that brings the account back to zero balance. Please speak to your accountant if this is all new because it's something they can explain better than I can!
If you consolidate on the wrong date you can undo it again using the same Profit & Loss report, so there's no panic!
Mathew

Dear All,
I have just finished my 2015/2016 accounts and when I do the profit and loss report I get a big red notice saying to consolidate my accounts from 2013. Not only have I tried to do this but it doesn't seem to let me do it.
I keep getting 31 March come up but my account run from 06 April to 05 April.
How can I save my report without the red consolidation message, and how can I actually consolidate for the dates I want, if at all?
Many thanks,
Katie Fox

Hi Katie,
It sounds like you have the wrong date set as your Next P&L Consolidation. Have a look under business settings.
