attach to the record?

I'll leave this discussion open for comments - any ideas out
there?

Admintag:support.easybooksapp.com,2011-04-05:Comment/64556252011-04-06T03:16:52Z2021-01-27T21:27:36Zattach PDFs?

The ideas that come to mind for me are to attach a PDF using itunes from the pc or to interface with dropbox. I also store PDFs in iBooks but I don't know if apple gives access to those files from outside. I am sure there are other ways as well.

drewrosenbergtag:support.easybooksapp.com,2011-04-05:Comment/64556252011-04-06T07:42:34Z2011-04-06T07:43:24Zattach PDFs?

After thinking about it a little more I don't think this is
something that should be added to the app. Here's why.

The "attach photos" feature is designed to be the equivalent of
a shoebox of receipts rather than a permanent part of the accounts.
In fact, because of the size of images, they are not part of the
backup file and are not sync'd in the Online Sync service. Each
photo is typically the same size as the accounts database, so just
adding a single photo doubles the size. This would greatly slow
down the backup and restore process and was the reason the photos
were not included in backups.

The photos should be taken off the device regularly using
iTunes file sharing. The images are all stored in
a folder called businesses. I would recommend
creating a folder on the computer and putting all the photos in
there. When they've been moved to the computer, the businesses
folder can be deleted from the device, again using iTunes to make
it easy.

The file name of the photos is formatted by the date, so from
the accounts it should be quite easy to locate an image on the
computer should you ever need it again. The filename is in the
form:

.jpg

20100910 is the date of the accounts entry (2010-Sept-10),

10386 is a unique number assigned to the accounts entry,
and

0 is a number unique to each photo in a single entry.

So if you have PDFs that you would like to use from Dropbox, it
would be easier to make a copy and (optionally) change the name to
include the date rather than try to include these in Easy
Books.

I hope that helps, and thank you very much for the suggestion.
It's great to have them all, even if they don't all make it into
the app.
