Multiple sales tax rates, by county?

Ok, so I am a US user, in-home service professional, and the sales tax here varies by county. I have to keep track of what sales happen in which county, and file taxes accordingly. Can I use the "VAT account" feature to accomplish this?

What would need to happen is when I make a new sales invoice, at the "tax" line, I would need to be able to select from a list, say "Livingston, 7.125%" or "Ontario 8%", and later get a report of how much tax I have collected over a given period for each of the areas.

Is this possible?

You could try adding VAT accounts as you need them, named as you suggested. Each account will keep track of the sales tax in it. I'd suggest trying out the idea first to make sure you're happy it works for what you want to do as I'm not an expert on the US rules for VAT.
