Freezes in reports
Tried to look at audit report, slow response and no data displays when it finally shows. When I return, to reports screen, all buttons freeze. Urgent! All data is in easy books and audit impending.

Would you like me to take a look at a backup file of your business? I'll see if I can reproduce the problem.
Let me know over which dates you are running the report, or whether you're just leaving them as they are and I'll see what I can do.
I'm making the discussion private for now, so you can send over your backup without everyone seeing it.

I am not trying any date range, just hitting 'audit' on the "all reports" screen. The other reports work but "audit" displays no data and when I back out of it (using the button to left of frame), the whole screen seizes up. I have to hit the home button and reload easy books. It happens everytime I touch "audit" now although I am certain I have seen data in there before.
If you could look at the backup to try to figure it out, I would be grateful.
Thanks.
Chandra

I will look into it. Would you like to email me the backup file?

Hi Chandra,
I've looked at the problem here and the report does show, but after a very long time. Because of the large amount of data you have, it is almost certainly a resource issue, in other words the report doesn't run properly due to not enough available memory, or processing in the main thread blocks the user interface for too long (and the operating system then kills the process).
I need to think about how to fix this. The actual database query happens very quickly, despite the large amount of data, but passing it to the internal browser in the device is what takes the time. I may make the audit report output as CSV only, which would fix the issue. Still, that's for me to worry about.
How can I help you out in the meantime? Do you need that audit report or will a Balance Sheet & P&L report be enough? If you need the audit report please let me know as I can run it here (on the simulator that runs on a Mac). If you do, just let me know the date range you need and I'll email back the CSV and HTML files for you.
I'm sorry you've had this experience, it certainly isn't what I want to happen to anyone. I will get it fixed as soon as I can and I'll make sure I don't make the same mistake again.
Mathew

HI there ... you will see below that I have used easybooks in the past. I rather liked it but stopped using it when it was hard to produce the necessary reports. Also, I am still running OS 4 and an older version of easybooks on my IPad because I was told by a friend that the OS5 update caused her to lose all of her data on her easybooks app. I presume she was not syncing online but I have been very nervous about doing the update ever since.
I would like to start using easybooks again (I am hoping that the bug with the audit report is resolved now).
So can you please assist me with ensuring my info is not lost, restoring the online sync (I had a link for another trial but it expired, sadly) and updating to the newer version of easybooks?
I would appreciate any assistance in resolving this so I can continue to use easybooks. I found it quite handy and I prefer it over Clio.
Thanks,
Chandra Corriveau

We always recommend a backup first, and then do updates, then this covers for Apple update issues. It does a brilliant job at providing a continuous online backup for your data, and many customers use it with confidence.
If you need to reset your password, here is the link https://sync.easybooksapp.com/user/password
There is none of your information synced until you subscribe to the service and sync, when you log in there is a link for you to do this. You can then check when it was last updated.
All the best, glad you want to come back,
Karen
