Getting started

Hi.
I'm having issues setting up my bank accounts. In cheque account what does account 2 do.
For some reason my balance doubles up?

When adding in a customer it has a tag "opening" is this balance ie if they have outstanding invoices.

Can I enter my dec invoices in and send out straight away?

I have 4 revenue streams, how can I include in individual invoices?

I look forward to getting started, cheers!

  1. Hi Bart,

If you're tapping on Cheque account, you're seeing a list of entries that all link to the cheque account. So you'd expect this to match each line of a bank statement and when you move on to reconciling your bank statements, you'll find you work down the paper copy and move your Easy Books entries around to match it.

On the list screen, tapping an entry shows all the information about the transfer. Bear in mind that in each entry you're just moving money between accounts. So when you make a purchase using money from the cheque account, you would set account 2 as another account (either an asset or expense for your purchase).

You're right that the opening balance is for customers with an outstanding balance. This is for people moving from another accounts package, and they will normally run a trial balance for a particular date, and set the same set of accounts in Easy Books with the opening balances set to match the report.

So if you want to enter Dec invoices, you might pick 1 Dec as your starting date. You don't need to set this anywhere. Just make sure your opening balances are set to the values given by your current package on this date.

For more than one revenue stream, you might find it useful to add an income account for each. Then if you send an invoice containing more than one revenue stream, just add a split when entering the sale. In the new lines that appear, you can pick another of your income accounts and set a new amount. A new detail line appears too, which you use to set the text that appears on their invoice.

    I hope that helps,

    Mathew
