IXBRL?
I know almost nothing about accounting, but my accountant says my new software for a new mac should have IXBRL tagging.
Does Easy Books have this?

No, sorry it doesn't. It's a bookkeeping app that helps you keep track of income/expenses etc. It doesn't file with tax authorities though. You may need some far more expensive software for that! If you do find something you like, would you mind writing back on this forum with your choice please? It may help someone else in the same position as you.

+1 for quick response! Thanks. I'll speak to my accountant and see if this is a deal-breaker. I like the look of Easy Books but it's not really my decision because of this.
Can you also link me to a bit where the costs of your software is spelled out?
Thanks again.

Hi Mike,
Thanks. The costs are purely dependent on which features you'll be using. For example, if you don't plan on using Time-Tracker, or Customer Invoicing, you won't buy them. So the base price for the Mac app is £45, which is the "Transactions" add-on. This allows you to expand the capacity for transactions beyond the free version's limit of 120.
Full pricing is shown online at http://www.easybooksapp.com/mac/add-ons
Your accountant might also be interested in the sharing feature of the app, where they could view your accounts *live* and perform your year-end remotely without needing you to export/import data. This sharing feature is part of the Online Sync service and is described online at http://www.easybooksapp.com/mac/sync/sharing.
All the best, I hope you find what you need.

Hi
I would need invoicing and sharing sounds useful, and I have been looking for timesheets too. I have a limited company.
Problem is all this will be well over £100! Are there any deals, or, have you any projects I could assist with as a graphic designer and writer perhaps..?

You're a graphic designer? Now I'm interested. What kind of work do you do?

Hi Mathew
I have created a wide range of products, from flyers and certificates for small businesses, professional trade organisations and charities, through glossy exhibition brochures and staff magazines up to major companies' annual reports, interactive Powerpoint presentations and management training packages. Many of these were for multinationals, pharmaceutical companies and banks. I have worked on the 'look and feel' stages of web sites and the usual corporate identities and logos.
On the writing and editing side, I've launched magazines and newspapers and have written features and news articles for the Daily Telegraph and The Times, as well as books on Total Quality Management and desktop publishing. I have also designed and analysed employee and customer opinion surveys.
Before going freelance 15 years ago I was head of public relations for a division of a gas company, and that experience is often useful in helping clients decide what they really need to say to their audiences.
Unlike most designers, I am not left handed, and I can spell!
Let me know what you have in mind?
Regards
Mike Purdie

Hi Mike,
That's good to know. I'll be in touch when I next need some design work and my designer is unavailable.
All the best,
Mathew
