Error after update - can't open the app

I've tried to update the app recently - chose update and i simply can't access the app on my ipad now - it won't download if i delete i'll lose all my data (last backup was November)

can you help - I'm floored without it.

    Yes I can help I think.

    First thing I would try is turning the iPad off and back on. I've had updates and new app installs fail part way through before and I've found this gets the iPad to re-try the download.
