Text entry problems
For the first time today, I have come to add a transaction and noticed that trying to expand the calendar does not work. See screenshot. Going on from that, If I attempt to enter text into any field, nothing will enter and drop downs do not appear. Clicking cancel will not cancel and the only option is to close or force quit the application.

What version? I think I remember a problem like this a long time back.

Anything more on this? I can produce reports and browse the app no problem, but as soon as I try to enter or amend a transaction, the keyboard seems to become unresponsive.
Can you tell me where the data is stored so I can try a restore from Time Machine?
Thanks.

Hi Richard,
The data is stored in one of two locations depending on which version of the app you have. Using Finder, go to the menu bar and use the option Go > Go to folder... and type ~/Library
Mac App Store:
~/Library/Containers/uk.co.geode.easybooks
Direct download:
~/Library/Application Support/Easy Books and
~/Library/Preferences/uk.co.geode.easybooks.plist
Perhaps you'll be able to get it all running again if you use the app to make a backup of your business data (Business > Backup menu). Then delete the preferences file and folders above. It might be that deleting just the preferences file will be enough. You could also try deleting the app and re-installing it (but use the same source, Mac App Store or Web Site)
Let me know if that changes anything, I'd be interested to know what it could be.

I have tried everything below and still the same issue. Even setting up a band new data file the problems present themselves on entering the first transaction.
Real problem as I cant update my business accounts until resolved.
Any further suggestions?

My only suggestion now would be to try downloading the app from the web site instead and seeing if that works better than the Mac App Store version.

No Dice.
Removed app store version, installed downloaded version from web site. Same issue.

I'm sorry. The only thing I can think of is there's some other software installed that is getting its hooks into the app somehow.
I can't think of what else to try, but please write back and let me know what OS you are using. It might help to know if anyone else reports the same problem in the future.

Running Mountain Lion with latest updates applied.
Seems really weird as I can't think of anything that might have changed as it was working fine until a few days ago. Assumed the data had corrupted somehow but restoring old versions and re-installing not fixed.

Just occurred to me that only change was an upgrade of Parallels to version 9. Could this be causing a problem?

Hi Richard,
Interesting idea, I don't know as I don't use Parallels. My guess would be that something changed on the machine a few days ago. If you do get any further with it please pass on your knowledge!

I think I have solved the problem. Looks like it was Parallels. Something must have broken when i updated to version 9. I uninstalled Parallels and Parallels access Easybooks worked fine. Re-installed Parallels and (so far) all appears to be OK.

That's good information for me, thanks for passing it on!
